How Long It Takes to Learn to Surf | Pacific Surf School

How long it takes to learn surfing? This is a frequent question on the minds and tongues of many beginners. Surfing is fast becoming a popular sport as more and more people are now waking up to the benefits of this fun sport.

Surfing is said to be suitable for everyone. All that you need is the heart to take on the waves and the support of a trainer to keep you going. However, before you get started, it is important to know how long it takes to learn to surf so that you can plan accordingly.

Preparing For Surfing

It will take you longer to learn to surf if you do not know how to swim. You do not need to be an expert swimmer to take your first surfing lesson, but you must be comfortable in the water and know the basics of swimming so that you feel confident when you go with the waves.

Who Can Surf?

Anyone can surf, from men to women to children to seniors. However, it may not be suitable for pregnant women, individuals nursing an injury, or those with a serious health condition such as cardiac issues.

How Long Will It Take Me to Learn to Swim?

A sixty year old, fit person can learn how to surf faster than a lazy sixteen year old. So it all boils down to your dedication and persistence.

Depending upon how seriously you take up surfing and how good you want to get at it, your time to master will vary. The more you practice, the faster you’ll learn.

If you already know how to swim, then you will move to the first step right away that involves lying on the surfboard. However, before this, we’ll introduce you to the world of surfing by helping you pick your first surfboard and gear.

At Pacific Surf, we’ll make sure you learn at your own pace but most of our students are ready to take on the waves within a month. We’ll move to the next step once you’re comfortable enough.

However, it can take you longer to get a professional certificate. Talk to us today to know more.
